Saki urges people to reject AL, BNP

Update : 29 Jan 2016, 08:02 PM

Convener of People's Solidarity Movement (Ganosamhati Andolon) Zonayed Saki has urged the countrymen to boycott both the ruling Awami League and its arch rival BNP as they have resorted to the politics of dynasty and revenge.

“The people of the country are passing through a critical moment due to the persistent autocratic rule. The scenario during the BNP-led alliance government was the same. And character of both the parties is the same when they were in opposition,” Saki said during a press conference held in the city after inaugurating member collection campaign yesterday.

He said that such autocratic rule and stagnant situation give rise to politics of violence, and also create a field for militants. The two major parties have proved that they cannot give up such practices.

“People of the country need to come out of the dynastic, revengeful and destructive politics of the Awami League and the BNP-led alliances in order to build the nation based on the spirit of the Liberation War.”

Saki said that they would declare the party’s central committee through the fourth national council to be held on May 27-28 this year. “Before that we will form committees in every district, upazila, thana and unions,” he added.

Gonosonghoti Andolon was established on August 29, 2002. “We decided to form a new political party at the third council held on November 27-28 last year.”

Terming the Election Commission’s conditions for establishing new political party undemocratic, he said: “A group of people or organisation with 200 members may form a new political party in India, while our EC wants at least 20,000 members.”

He said that they had already drafted the party constitution and that it would be made public during the fourth council.
