‘BNP plotted to create anarchy by killing foreigners’

Update : 29 Jan 2016, 07:48 PM

Alleging that the BNP had conspired to create anarchy in the country through killing foreigners in the name of the Islamic State (IS), Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said the government tackled everything efficiently.

“Foreign national Cesare Tavella was killed at the order of BNP leaders. A Japanese citizen was also killed in a similar fashion. But it was claimed that the IS carried out the murders in a bid to create anarchy in the country.

“However, the government thwarted all conspiracies with patience,” he said at a function in Sunamganj.

Asaduzzaman reiterated that there is no IS in Bangladesh. “Our detectives have found who were involved with the killings of the foreigners.”

Speaking at the programme, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan claimed that the country is heading in the right direction.

Mohibur Rahman Manik, MP and Engineer Mouazzem Hossain Ratan MP, were also present, among others.

In another programme in Habiganj in the afternoon, the home minister said the trial proceedings of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria’s murder case have not been stopped.

“There are no proceedings currently as the speedy trial tribunal could not dispose of the case in the stipulated time,” he said while talking to reporters.

Asaduzzaman also said the trial would resume soon and it would be completed in the quickest possible time.
