A Dhaka court yesterday rejected bail petitions of BNP Student Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie in nine cases filed against him on charges of arson, vandalism and murder during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s anti-government movement last year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan rejected his bail petitions in eight violence cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel police stations in the capital.
Meanwhile, another Metropolitan Magistrate Md Yunus Khan rejected his bail petition in a murder case filed with Sutrapur police station in the city.
The murder case was filed against Annie during a countrywide hartal on November 10, 2013.
Among the eight vandalism cases filed against the BNP leader, seven were filed with Paltan police station and one with Motijheel police station.
