Home Ministry has provided guidelines to the petitioner who sought ministry’s permission to file a sedition case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said a Supreme Court lawyer came to the ministry seeking permission to file a sedition case against Khaleda Zia over her controversial speech on the number of Liberation War martyrs.
“We have given guidelines about the further procedures regarding the matter,” he said while talking to the journalists after a programme held in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
When asked about Khaleda's arrest, Kamal said: “The next procedure will be taken according to the law.”
On Thursday, former secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association Momtazuddin Ahmed Mehedi placed a sedition complaint with the ministry accusing the BNP chief for making a controversy on the number of Liberation War martyrs.
Moreover, the complaint also accused her of making derogatory remarks about the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Awami League over the Liberation War.
