Ruling Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has said if the countrymen want, the politics of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) might be announced illegal for its arson attack and shelter to international terrorist and militant groups.
He made the remark at a party press conference at Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's political office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Wednesday.
“BNP's politics is only against the people of the country that was proved in its arson attack and terrorists activities in early 2014,” said Hanif.
“BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia led the terrorists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami to burn people in the name of democratic movement.”
Criticising BNP's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's Wednesday’s statement over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's speech to the nation on Tuesday, Hanif said: “Who told Mirza Fakhrul that the nation is upset for the premier's speech? How Mr Fakhrul got the countrymen's opinion over night?”
“Not the people, but BNP is upset for the country's rapid development.”
