Islami Oikya Jote has announced that they have no relation with the BNP-led alliance.
Party Chairman Abdul Latif Nejami made the announcement at the tri-annual meeting of the party at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Thursday.
He said: “It has become relevant for Ulemas getting united in political sphere. In such a situation Islami Oikya Jote will keep its own identity vibrant and will pay attention to strengthen its organisational activities.”
Nejami also said his party will contest in the next parliamentary elections in all 300 constituencies but at the same time demanded an inclusive election immediately.
Meanwhile, a faction of the Islami Oikya Jote, led by Vice Chairman Abdur Rakib, said they are with the 20-party alliance.
