Awami League will hold rallies in two venues in the capital instead of the 18 places they had earlier announced to hold programmes to mark the January 5, the day in 2014 when the last general election was held.
Earlier, AL announced it would hold programmes on 18 venues as BNP wanted to hold a protest rally in the Suhrawardi Udyan.
After BNP decided to hold their programme at the party's Nayapaltan office, AL decided to hold programmes at Bangabandhu Avenue and Rasel Square, Awami League's joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said.
While talking to the journalists after a joint meeting with City AL, Hanif added that BNP should observe it as a day for repentance for not participating in the election.
