Khaleda violence case probe report deferred

Update : 03 Jan 2016, 07:49 PM

A Dhaka court yesterday fixed March 3 to submit the probe report in a case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and three others for the deaths of 42 people during hartal and blockade by the 20-party alliance last year.

The other accused are BNP Standing Committee Member barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Khaleda’s Adviser Prof Emajuddin Ahmed and former adviser Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Maruf Hossain fixed the date as the OC of Gulshan police failed to submit the report yesterday.

On February 2 last year, AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, filed the case.

The complainant said that the BNP-led coalition activists blasted petrol bombs during the programmes leaving 42 people killed and hundreds of others wounded from January 5 to February 1 last year.
