Two separate cases have been filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and the party leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy in Narail over their controversial remarks on the martyrs figure and martyred intellectuals.
Sheikh Ashik Billah, general secretary of Sheikh Jamal Memorial Council in Narail, filed the cases with a Narail court on Tuesday morning.
Taking the complaints into cognisance, Narail Sadar Congnisance Court judge Md Zakaria ordered the sadar police station officer-in-charge to investigate the matter.
The OC was asked to submit report on February 2.
According to the case statement, Khaleda tried to distort the history of Bangladesh's origin with her statement on the martyrs.
On December 21, Khaleda expressed doubt about the number of people who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War in 1971, claiming the figure is disputed.
According to the statement of case against Goyeshwar, the BNP leader commented that the "intellectuals died like fools".
