The civil society leaders and others contestant in Khagrachhari municipality are criticising the 23-point election manifesto placed by the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) backed mayoral candidate Advocate Abdul Malek Mintu to attract voters.
They termed Malek’s election manifesto ‘non-realistic’.
Awami League (AL) candidate Md Shane Alam termed BNP candidate’s manifesto bogus and false one. Shane Alam pointed 5-number pledge where Abdul Malek pledged to ensure electricity connection in entire Khagrachhari municipality.
Awami League-led government has done a huge development in last seven years, but BNP candidate is not aware about it as he is not genuine politicians, Shane Alam added.
The running mayor and independent candidate Md Rafiqul Alam brushing aside Malek’s election manifesto and said most of the points in his election manifesto excepts children park issue were implemented during his last five years tenure.
He said he had already floated a tender to construct a children park and the work would start by his running tenure, he added.
BNP candidate failed to raise any new point in his manifesto and voters were not attracted by his election pledges, Rafiqul Alam added.
Khagrachhari Nagorik Committee President Hazi Liyakat Ali Chowdhury doesn’t seen anything new in BNP candidate’s manifesto as most of the points of Malek;s already been implemented during running Mayor’s tenure.
“It’s just a mockery with voters, he observed”.
Khagrachhari District Corruption Prevention Committee President Sudarsan Dutta said almost same as Liyakat but hailed Malek’s election manifesto.
“In a democratic system every candidate has to place election manifesto for voters and BNP candidate has done it while other candidates has failed in this regards.
BNP candidate Advocate Abdul Malek Mintu said nothing in this world is out of criticism. But as a part of democracy he placed 23-point commitment to voters. If others candidate’s has any new point they can put it before citizens, Malek added.
