Health Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday said Khaleda Zia and Ershad during their tenures rewarded razakars, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had given due respect to freedom fighters.
“The prime minister has showed them the way how to live life with dignity. If freedom fighters did not fight for the nation, we would not get our independence. The people who disrespect our freedom fighters should not be forgiven.”
The minister made the statement while addressing a reception for freedom fighters at M Monsur Ali auditorium in Sirajganj.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md Bellal Hossain, the programme was addressed among others by lawmaker Dr Habibe Millat Munna, MP for reserved seat Selina Begum Swapna, Police Super Md Miraj Uddin Ahmed, freedom fighter Gazi Aminul Islam Chowdhury, President of district unit Awami Legue Gazi Abu Mohammad Golam Kibria, Awami League leader Sirajul Islam Khan and district unit commander of freedom fighters Gazi Shafikul Islam Shafik.
The minister said no freedom fighter across the country will not die for lcak of treatment.
He also warned physicians of stern actions saying that if any doctor showed negligence in treating freedoms, the government should take punitive action against him/her.
Later, the minister exchanged greetings with freedom fighters.
