BNP-backed Mayoral aspirant’s house vandalised

The house of BNP-backed mayoral aspirant in Tarab municipality polls has been vandalised on Saturday.

The mayoral aspirant, Nasiruddin, alleged that the members of local unit Awami League have launched the attack.

On the other hand, the Awami League leaders and activists claimed that the incident took place due to the internal conflict between two rival groups of the BNP.

Nasiruddin told the Dhaka Tribune: “The members of local Awami League launched the sudden attack around 12:30pm Saturday while a doa mahfil was underway.”

However, he did not mention nay name of any specif Awami League member.

Contacted, the municipality unit Awami League General Secretary Hazi Mustafizur Rahman said: “Awami League members are not involved with the incident of vandalism. It happened due to internal conflict between Nasiruddin and his rival group in the BNP.”

The municipality elections is scheduled to take place on December 30.
