Tofail: Nation got rid of stigma through trial of war criminals

Update : 28 Nov 2015, 06:41 PM

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said the Awami League government has rid the nation of stigma through the trials of war criminals who had carried out atrocities during the 1971 Liberation War.

“It is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who has made the trials possible. The criminals are being tried under the International Crimes Tribunal and some have already been executed. Moreover, the nation is united against the merciless cruelty shown by the war criminals,” the minister said while inaugurating the month-long Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair 2015 as chief guest in the city’s Abahani Field in Halishahar.

Tofail said: “The government has been working hard to develop Chittagong as the second capital of the country. We have undertaken work to establish a deep sea port in Sonadia.”

“A LNG terminal is also going to be set up in Maheshkhali and Tk500 crore has been approved by Ecnec for the purpose,” added Tofail.
