The joint forces in a special drive have arrested a ward’s BNP president along with his associate in Chittagong city’s Bakalia area on Wednesday night for their alleged involvement with subversive activities in the city.
The arrestees are identified as Bakalia-Ward’s BNP president Nawab Khan and his associate Safiq, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammed Mohsin of Bakalia police station.
Till filling of this report at around 8:20pm, the special drive was going on at Bakalia area in the city.
The OC said the BNP leader and his associate were arrested during a special drive conducted by joint forces from his house at Dakkhin Bakalia area at around 7:30pm for their alleged involvement with sabotage.
“BNP leader Nawab is the prime accused in six cases lodged with Bakalia police station for subversive acts,” said the OC.
On November 8, the joint forces had detained at least 17 persons from the Bakalia area for their suspicious movement.
