Police, in a drive, have held 15 leaders and activists of Islami Chhattra Shibir including Abdur Rab dormitory’s president and secretary during holding a clandestine meeting at the dormitory at Chittagong University (CU) campus on Wednesday evening.
During the drive, three sacks of stone, huge Jihadi books were also recovered from the dormitory, said Chittagong District Police’s Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mosiuddowla Reza of Hathazari Circle.
Of the detainees, two were identified as Abdur Rab Hall’s shibir president Md Jahid, the student of Zoology and secretary Jubayer, student of Soil Science department of CU while the others identities could yet to be ascertained immediately, said the ASP.
CU Proctor Ali Azgar said acting on secret information police raided the dormitory at around 3:30pm and detained 15 leaders and activists of Shibir during three hours raid.
ASP Mosiuddowla Reza said acting on secret information police raided the Shibir-dominated dormitory and held the leaders and activists during holding clandestine meeting to carry out subversive activities.
Legislative processes would be taken against the persons after verifying their identity, said the police official.
