At least eight people have been injured in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chattra League unit of Chittagong University.
The identity of the injured could not be ascertained yet.
Witnesses said BCL President Alamgir Tip-led faction locked into an altercation with Secretary HM Sujon-led faction over fixing spot to stand in order to greet students appearing in the admission tests on Monday morning.
At a stage, they locked into a clash that left eight people injured. Meanwhile, two police officials were also injured in the incident.
University assistant proctor Hellal Uddin Ahmed confirmed about the clash to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “On information, police came to the campus and fired rubber bullets and tear shells to bring the situation under control.”
CU Medical Centre duty doctor Ataul Goni said: "The injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH)."
