Hanif: TIB instigates BNP-Jamaat militancy

Update : 26 Oct 2015, 07:51 PM

BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami are trying to establish the bases of international terrorist and militant groups like the Islami State (IS) in Bangladesh while Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) is inciting such criminal activities by publishing controversial reports, said Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif yesterday.

He said the TIB was trying to destroy the commoners by pushing its new formulas on different occasions.

“The TIB comes up with new formulas when the BNP-Jamaat alliance plots new conspiracies. This is not new. In the past, the TIB tried to interfere in the country’s internal political affairs.

“Now it has released a report on purpose to inspire bombings, killings and anarchy by tarnishing the image of the parliament and the government,” Hanif said while addressing a meeting organised by Chhatra League at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

The desired effectiveness of the national parliament is under question due to unprecedented appendage of the so-called opposition party, according to a latest TIB report.

Instead of acting against the government’s decisions, the main opposition, led by HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party, has been playing the role of a pat on the back, the TIB said in the report named “Parliament Watch” which was unveiled on Sunday.

The report has been prepared on the proceedings of the second to sixth sessions of the 10th parliament.

Hanif said no international militant or terrorist organisation exists in Bangladesh but the BNP-Jamaat alliance always backs religious extremists, by providing financial support for example, to help them operate like Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

“The present activities of the BNP and Jamaat are similar to that of militant groups.”
