An Awami League activist has been killed in a clash between two groups in Agpirail village under Itali union in Singra upazila of Natore district.
The deceased is Abdul Hannan 40, son of Abdul Karim, of the same village.
According to locals, there had been a rivalry between locally known to Zinnat group and Arif group in the union’s party organisation.
Zinnat, who is brother of former chairman of the union, Zahirul Islam Babu, was an expectant for the party's support in the last union parishad election.
However, Arif, who is the current chairman, got the support.
Over this, they grew rivalry, which resulted in a clash around 8pm on Thursday that left Abdul Hannan killed.
The OC of Singra police, Nasiruddin Mondol, confirmed the death.
However, the police were on the way to the spot till filing of the report at 11am.
