The police have detained 25 members of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir with a seizable cache of explosives.
Shahidul Islam, Habiganj additional superintendent of police, while addressing a press briefing, said acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided different areas of the district from Sunday night to Monday morning and detained those Jamaat-Shibir members with seven crude bombs and explosives.
The police also seized hundreds of Jihadi books and anti-government leaflets and sealed off the district office of the party.
The official told the reporters: “We had information that the Jamaat-Shibir members were preparing for massive subversive activities in order to unstable the law and order situation in the district.
“And such operations will be continued.”
