Expressing concern over the recent killings of two foreign nationals in Bangladesh, the BNP has said country's citizens are not safe now due to authoritarian rule and severe deterioration of law and order.
The party also demanded arrest of lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton for allegedly shooting a minor boy in Gaibandha on Friday morning.

“One Japanese citizen was killed in Rangpur as the law and order situation has deteriorated. Earlier, an Italian citizen was killed in Dhaka. People are not safe both inside and outside their houses,” said Asaduzzaman Ripon, international affairs secretary of the party.
There is no good governance in the country and law enforcing agencies have become helpless as they find it difficult to establish the rule of law in the country,” Ripon added.

Addressing a press briefing at party' s Nayapaltan headquarters Saturday, the BNP leader alleged that Ashraf Uddin Nizan's house was attacked on Friday as part of government's plan to put obstacle in the way of the BNP's reorganising process.
Ruling out the prime minister's statement that there will be no election before 2019, Ripon demanded fresh election soon.
