BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the government has failed to maintain law and order as well as the killing of an Italian citizen.
Fakhrul came up with the observation entering the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters after nine months. About one hundred leaders and activists welcomed him at the party office with flowers.
“One Italian citizen was murdered in Dhaka on Monday and we harshly condemn it. We are apprehending that such sort of incidents have been taking place as there is no democratic space across the country and poor law and order situation,” Fakhrul said.
The BNP leader was arrested on January 6 from the press club premises in some cases filed against him with different police stations in the capital.
The BNP spokesperson continued that it is the government's responsibility to ensure the security of foreigners and there is the only way to overcome the bad situation is to hold a free, fair and credible elections.
Regarding his physical condition, Fakhrul said: “I am still under treatment. I will have to go abroad again for treatment.”
