Update : 10 Sep 2015, 07:32 PM

A Dhaka court yesterday adjourned the trial proceedings of Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases till September 17.

Dhaka Special Judge Court 3 Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar made the order following recording cross-examinations of three witnesses and deposition of a prosecution witness in the Zia Charitable Trust case.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda appeared before the makeshift court set up on the parade ground of Dhaka central jail directorate of Bakshibazar area in the capital around 11am.

During the proceeding, the defence counsels were seen on protest repeatedly terming the previous recording unlawful.

An uproar ensued there while the court was recording the deposition of eighth prosecution witness, Md Hafizur Rahman, the then deputy general manager of Sonali Bank’s prime minister office branch in Tejgaon.

Another defence counsel named Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin echoed the voice of Khokon, blaming the prosecution for misleading the judge.

Public prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajal binned the allegations hurled by pro-BNP lawyers.

After a 15-minute rough argument and uproar, the judge declared that he would rewrite the deposition.
