A Dhaka court yesterday fixed November 2 for hearing on whether to accept charge sheets against BNP chief Khaleda Zia and 37 others in a case involving petrol bomb attack.
The case was filed under the Special Powers Act with the Jatrabari police station in connection with an attack on a bus in January that left one dead and 27 others injured.
Yesterday was the scheduled date for passing order on whether BNP Chief Khaleda and others will be charged in the cases.But Metropolitan Magistrate Shariar Mahmud Adnan set the fresh date to pass the order.
On May 6, Detective Sub-inspector Bashir Ahmed, the investigation officer of the cases, submitted the charge sheets to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
The other accused include BNP leaders MK Anwar, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Azizul Bari Helal, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, former BNP lawmaker Salauddin Ahmed, Khaleda’s advisers Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Shawkat Mahmud, her Special Assistant Shimul Biswas and Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan.
