BNP Chairperson and chief of 20-party alliance Khaleda Zia has called a meeting of the coalition on Sunday night.
BNP's media wing official Shamsuddin Didar said the meeting will be held at 7:30pm at Khaleda's Gulshan office.
The current political situation of the country and energy price hike would be discussed in the meeting, he said.
The prices of electricity and gas have been hiked by 2.93% and 26.29% respectively on an average. Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the increased prices of electricity and gas on August 27, which will be effective from September 1.
The BNP has urged the government to withdraw its decision to increase prices of electricity and gas saying that it would hit the lower- and middle-income people hard.
