BCL faction ransacks Shibir cottage at CU

Update : 29 Aug 2015, 07:32 PM

A faction of Bangladesh Chhartra League (BCL) leaders and activists of Chittagong University (CU) unit allegedly vandalised a Shibir dominated cottage on the campus Friday night.

Campus and police sources said at least nine rooms were vandalised on the ground floor of one Firoza Bhaban near Nur-e- Elahi Masjid at the Gate No 2 of the campus.

BCL men reportedly looted valuables from those rooms.

The incident took place barely four months after two Shibir dominated halls – AF Rahman and Allaol dormitories – were vandalised by the BCL men on May 22.

After a chase and counter chase the BCL men vandalised at least 130 rooms of two dormitories.

Witnesses said Shibir men allegedly swooped on former human and resources affairs secretary of CU BCL unit SM Allauddin while he was going there to check a clandestine meeting of Shibir at the cottage around 9:30pm on Friday.

As the news of the attack on SM Allauddin spread BCL leaders and activists from Shah Amanat Hall vandalised the cottage, said Officer-in-Charge Salauddin Chowdhury of Hathazari police station.

Being informed police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control while police recovered some Jihadi books from the cottage, said the OC. SM Allauddin belongs to the faction of CU BCL unit General Secretary HM Fazle Rabbi Sujon.
