A Dhaka court yesterday set October 1 to hold a hearing on charge framing against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 25 others in a case filed on charges of vandalising and torching vehicles.
Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqur Rahman set the date, accepting a time petition by defence counsel Zaynal Abedin Mesbah.
The hearing was supposed to be held yesterday, but the defence filed a time petition mentioning that Mirza Fakhrul could not appear before the court as he was now abroad for medical treatment.
Sub-inspector Mehadi Maksud filed the case with Paltan police station for violence during a BNP programme on on March 2, 2013.
The charge sheet in the case was submitted against 26 BNP men on March 26, 2013. The other charge-sheeted accused include BNP leaders Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshar Chandra Roy, and Aman Ullah Aman.
