Activists of ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Chittagong University (CU) unit have beat two Shibir men up and handed over them to police.
The Shibir men, Maksudur Rahman Shaon, student of Soil Science department and Abul Kalam Azad of microbiology department, were taken to police custody, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) (investigation) Salauddin Chowdhury of Hathazari police station.
Maksud was an accused in a case filed with the police station while Azad was freed later verifying his identity, said the OC.
Campus sources said a group of BCL men beat up the two Shibir men at near the Dr AR Mallik Bhaban, the administration building of CU on Wednesday noon while they were passing the area, leaving them injured.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the Shibir men from the BCL men, said OC Salauddin.
