A birthday celebration programme of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was reportedly foiled by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists at Government B M College in Barisal on Saturday.
Witnesses said Jatiotabadi Chattra Dal (JCD), students wing of BNP, arranged a programme to celebrate the birthday of Khaleda Zia on the college campus.
Before starting the programme, some BCL cadres led by Faisal Ahmed Munna attacked the JCD activists foiled the programme.
Four JCD activists were injured in the attack, claimed Wahidur Rahman Rubel, the college unit JCD leader. SM Imanul Hakim, principal of the college, said on information he went to the spot and called police. The police brought the situation under control, he said.
A three-member probe-committee headed by Prof Abdul Kaium, chairman social science department, had been formed to investigate the matter, added the principal.
Sakhawat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said on information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
