BNP demands probe against LGRD minister Mosharraf

Update : 07 Aug 2015, 07:53 PM

Main political opposition the BNP has demanded that the government investigate the allegation of grabbing minority-owned land in Faridpur against LGRD Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain.

“Yesterday, Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikyo Parishad alleged that LGRD Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain had illegally taken possession of a minority-owned land in Faridpur. When allegations are made against any minister, the government must investigate them,” said Asaduzzaman Ripon, acting spokesperson of the party, during a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.

Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikyo Parishad held a press conference in the capital on Thursday where they claimed that three lawmakers of the ruling party had grabbed lands owned by minorities.

Ripon also said Bangladesh had failed to present its views at the meeting between Bangladesh and Indian security forces.

“Recently, a director-general level meeting took place between Border Guard Bangladesh and Indian Border Security Force, where Bangladeshi people’s expectations were not met.

“We doubt whether the BGB director general properly represented Bangladesh in that meeting. As the government is morally weak, it cannot protest strongly on border killing,” he said.
