BAU students vacate dorm following BCL infighting

The students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) staying in its dormitories have left the campus on Wednesday morning as per the order of the university authorities centring a fierce clash between Chhatra League activists.

When asked, BAU Proctor AKM Jakir Hossain admitted the cause and said they had to adopt the decision to shun clash further and all residential students there have already left the halls by 10am. The university went into Eid vacation since Sunday.

On the other hand, the authorities have kept a good number of policemen alert on the campus to prevent possible any clash.

On Tuesday around 10pm, some unruly activists from BAU and Mymensingh district units BCL engaged in a fatal clash with one another at Wapda intersection in the district town.

Kotwali Model police station OC Kamrul Islam said the clashers blasted several crude bombs as well as traded firing among them, leaving ten people injured. Of them, five got admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Besides, the locals handed over three clashing activists, namely Saiful Islam, Walid and Bappy, to them after giving a good number of beating, the OC went on.

The hospital's surgery department Chairman Prof Dr Nasim Sobhani opined that the condition of two was critical.
