BCL men attack vehicles outside Titumir College

A group of Chhatra League members of Titumir College unit have vandalised a number of vehicles in the capital's Mohakhali area following a brawl with local youths.

Witnesses said the college unit BCL members engaged in an altercation with some local youths on Monday afternoon.

Following the brawl, the BCL members equipped with bamboo sticks, vandalised some vehicles outside the college around 3pm while they were chasing the local youths.

Vehicular movement on the Mohakhali to Gulshan-1 link road came to a halt during the rampage, said police.

Inspector (investigation) Shahinur Rahman of Banani police told the Dhaka Tribune: “Being informed, the police rushed in and fired several rounds of blank shots in order to bring the situationist under control.

“Later, the road was freed for traffic around 4:15pm.”

No report of arrest has yet been found in this connection.

Police said they were trying to identify the persons involved with the vandalism.
