BNP has demanded army deployment during Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls slated for December 28.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP joint secretary general, came up with the demand while addressing a programme in the capital on Tuesday.
BNP wants army deployment for holding free and fair election in NCC polls as Narayanganj is known to all as ‘godfather’ area.
“If army personnel are deployed, the people will find congenial environment to go to polling centres for electing right candidate for the mayoral leadership” said Rizvi.
BNP placed the demand to the ruling Awami League government just hours after the party announced its mayoral candidate for the city on Tuesday.
The deadline for submitting nominations is on December 1.
