An Awami League leader has been hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Balaishpur area in Chandraganj of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased is Mofiz Ullah, 60, joint secretary of Bashikpur union unit of the ruling Awami League.
Laxmipur district unit Awami League General Secretary Nuruddin Choudhury Nayan told the Dhaka Tribune.
Assistant Superintendent of Laxmipur Police said, Mofiz Ullah was hacked indiscriminately with sharp weapons and died at the scene.
He was returning home after evening prayers at a local mosque, he added.
