BNP hopes Hasina to discuss with Khaleda before meeting Modi

Update : 29 May 2015, 08:51 PM

The BNP yesterday expressed its hope that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would talk to Khaleda Zia to discuss issues of national interests prior to her meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“As the media reported, the prime minister will talk on several issues with Narendra Modi including Implementation of Land Boundary Agreement, putting an end to killing on border and Teesta water sharing,” said Asaduzzaman Ripon, acting spokesperson of the BNP.

“We hope that prior to Modi’s meeting Sheikh Hasina will talk to the largest political party Chief Khaleda Zia. The government can also talk to experts in the BNP on such matters,” he said.

Addressing a press briefing at party’s Nayapaltan headquarters, the BNP leader said Teesta water sharing and border killing issues are not only the demand of a political party they are also the concern of the entire nation.

Reiterating that BNP is not against India, Ripon said a few days back the party had said it had never been against India.

“Our agenda is to raise our voices for the people of the country and to say about the development of the country.”

Praising Modi, the BNP leader said Indian prime minister is coming to Bangladesh along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee.

When India signs any treaty, it talks to the provincial government. It is the beauty of democracy, he observed.
