Annisul Huq, the new mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, has said he will try to remove the negative attitude city dwellers have towards the city corporation.
During his first meeting with all ward councillors and senior officials of the city corporation on Thursday, he said he would implement all the development projects mentioned in his election manifesto.
The meeting was held at Dhaka North City Corporation headquarters in the capital’s Gulshan, where city corporation Chief Executive Officer BM Enamul Haque, Secretary Md Abu Syed Sheikh, the newly-elected ward councillors and other top officials were present, said a press release sent to the media yesterday.
Annisul, who became mayor after claiming victory in the April 28 city corporation elections, told the meeting that tasks such as mosquito control, waste management, development of roads, drains, footpaths and street lamps should be handled with diligence.
The mayor, who is also a tremendously successful businessman, sought cooperation of all councillors, public servants and city corporation staff to build a green, clean and liveable city.
