Quader: Disappearance of Salahuddin mysterious

Update : 13 May 2015, 07:40 PM

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has said the case of the disappearance and reappearance of BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed is mysterious and questionable.

He made the comment at a press briefing at Padua Bazar in Comilla yesterday after visiting the work of an overpass in the area.

He said the people of the country had known from Salauddin’s wife that he had been found in a mental hospital in India’s Meghalaya.

According to Meghalaya police sources, Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Salauddin Ahmed, who went missing from March 10 this year, had been arrested on Monday and admitted to the Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience where he was undergoing treatment.

The minister commented that his going to India was mysterious and questionable as he did not go there following the legal process.

“The people will know the true story behind the Salahuddin drama soon,” he added.

On March 10,  Salahuddin Ahmed was allegedly picked up by law enforcement officials from his relative’s Uttara residence, his family claimed.

Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque said that Salahuddin had not been whisked away by policemen and that law enforcers were still looking for him.

Since his disappearance, law enforcement agencies including the police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have claimed ignorance of Salahuddin’s whereabouts.
