Update : 13 May 2015, 09:19 AM

Wife of BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed wants to meet with her husband soon in India.

She made the request a day after her husband Salahuddin was found at a Meghalayan mental hospital in Shillong of India.

Hasina Ahmed was speaking at a press conference at her Gulshan residence on Wednesday afternoon.

“I want to meet my husband as early as possible,” said Hasina.

“I will start for Shillong soon after I get the Indian visa,” she said.

We applied for an Indian visa in the morning, she added.

She also sought the cooperation of the government in bringing her husband back home.

“We will decide the next course of action regarding bringing him back to the country after we meet him in India.”

Regarding the latest communication with her husband, Hasina said: "We did not contact him further as he was shifted to another hospital."

Salahuddin Ahmed, the joint secretary general of BNP, was discovered in India’s Shillong on Monday, two months after he had gone mysteriously missing from Dhaka.

Around 2:30pm on Tuesday, Salahuddin’s wife Hasina Ahmed told reporters in a briefing that her husband had called her up at around 10am and told her that he was at a mental hospital in Shillong in the Indian state of Meghalaya.

At the time of the BNP leader's disappearance, he was functioning as BNP's spokesperson after the arrests of acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Ahmed Rizvi.
