BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged that Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu was killed as per Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directions.
“Pintu was killed. Why was a court order not been followed? We know everything is operated as per the direction of Hasina. None will be spared. Pintu was taken outside upon her order. Hasina is responsible for this killing,” Khaleda claimed.
“I learned that a doctor came to Rajshahi jail but he was not allowed in. They did not allow a doctor to see a patient. Are they human beings?”
Khaleda also said: “Pintu was a lawmaker. As per the rules, his Namaz-e-Janaza should have been held in the parliament plaza, but I heard that they [government] would not allow Pintu’s body there.”
Regarding BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed who disappeared months ago, Khaleda said: “We want to know where Salahuddin is. I want Salahuddin returned to his family. None will be spared if he is not returned. We sit silent and our leaders are killed one after another; that will not happen.”
The BNP chief also said the April 28 polls have made it clear why they had boycotted the January 5 elections.
“You have seen how Chhatra League, Jubo League rigged votes with help from police and law enforcers. Many believe that if we were allowed to participate in the January 5 elections, we would have won. But April 28 has proved our hunch.”
Referring to Chittagong mayor-elect Nasiruddin, Khaleda said: “He is a notorious criminal of Chittagong. He was in hididing for 14 years and got bail after submitting his nomination paper.”
