Bangladeshi photographer Enamul Kabir has won the Grand Prize at the internationally recognized “On The Block – 2nd Edition,” organized by the Lucie Foundation.

The competition, which celebrates candid and unposed moments from everyday life, drew submissions from photographers around the world.

Kabir’s victory marks a significant achievement for Bangladesh and highlights the growing global presence of South Asian visual storytellers.

His winning photograph, titled “A Leap of Trust,” captures a striking and spontaneous moment during a train’s departure, where a baby is being passed through a carriage window into unseen hands below.

The jury praised the image for its powerful depiction of trust, vulnerability, and the human connections formed in public spaces.

The winners were selected by an international jury panel that included gallery director Paris Chong, photographer and academic Arturo Soto, and renowned street photographer Matt Stuart.

As the grand prize winner, Kabir will receive a cash award of $1,000 along with a fine art print of his winning image.

His work will also be featured in an interview and included in the foundation’s curated online exhibition, providing international exposure.

The award program will culminate in a physical exhibition at the House of Lucie in Los Angeles.

The group exhibition, featuring Kabir’s winning image alongside other selected works, is scheduled to open on June 13.
