BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to visit the US embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon to provide her fingerprints as part of completing her visa application process.
The BNP chief was expected to leave her Gulshan office for the US Embassy around 2pm, said Khaleda’s media cell member Shamsuddin Didar, quoting her doctor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
According to party sources, Khaleda Zia is expected to travel to the United Kingdom early next month.
Subsequently, she may proceed to the United States or Germany for advanced medical treatment.
She has already applied for a US visa.
Khaleda Zia has been grappling with a range of serious health issues, including liver cirrhosis, and issues affecting her heart, lungs, kidneys and eyes.
She has undergone numerous treatments at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since her conditional release from jail, under the care of a medical board led by Prof Shahabuddin Talukder.
The BNP says it has completed all necessary arrangements to facilitate her travel abroad for specialized treatment at an advanced medical facility.
