The Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) on Sunday expressed its condolences over the passing of journalist Badiul Alam.
He was a former member of the DCAB and served on several executive committees.
He passed away at home earlier in the day after being bedridden due to illness in recent days. He was 78.
In a statement, DCAB President Nurul Islam Hasib and General Secretary Ashiqur Rahman Apu remembered Badiul Alam as a beloved colleague and cherished member of the DCAB.
The DCAB leaders offered prayers for his departed soul and expressed their deep sympathy to his bereaved family.
Badiul Alam worked for the Gonokantho, the Financial Express and the News Today as chief reporter, special correspondent and senior reporter, respectively.
Most recently, he held the position of city editor at the News Today.
He was buried at Azimpur Graveyard in Dhaka following funeral prayers at the National Press Club.
