Mahbubur Rahman Talukdar passes away

Former state minister for water resources and three-time member of parliament for Patuakhali-4, Mahbubur Rahman Talukdar, has passed away at the age of 74.

He had been battling pneumonia, heart disease, and diabetes for an extended period and was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka about a month ago.

After spending the last three days under intensive observation, he unfortunately passed away on Sunday. His daughter, Fariha Mahbub, confirmed the news.

According to family sources, his body will be returned to Kalapara in Patuakhali on Sunday. Following the funeral prayer on Monday, he will be laid to rest in the family graveyard.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and numerous relatives, colleagues, admirers, and well-wishers.

Mahbubur Rahman Talukdar was a prominent politician in the Awami League. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from Patuakhali-4 in 2001, 2008, and 2014.

Additionally, he served as the state minister for water resources from 2009 to 2014.
