BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, is set to return to her Gulshan home on Tuesday evening, after nine days in the hospital.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP's media cell, disclosed this information on Tuesday.
A pacemaker was implanted in the BNP chief’s heart at the hospital on June 23 after she was taken there in the afternoon the previous day.
Since then, she has been under close observation of doctors.
Quoting Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a physician on the medical board formed for Khaleda Zia's treatment, Shairul said the board had given its clearance for her release and could return home after 5pm.
Earlier, on October 27 last year, Khaleda Zia, who was suffering from liver cirrhosis, was operated on by three doctors from the United States.
The 79-year-old former prime minister suffers from various complex diseases including diabetes, arthritis and heart disease.
