Former caretaker government advisor Imam Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury has passed away at the age of 97.
His son, Niaz Ahmad Chowdhury, confirmed that he breathed his last around 3am on Tuesday in his Sylhet residence.
Imam Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury is survived by a son, a daughter, grandchildren, and numerous relatives who are mourning his death.
He will be laid to rest at the Shah Jalal Dargah mosque in Sylhet after a funeral prayer on Friday.
Imam Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury had a distinguished career. Among other responsibilities, he served as an advisor to the Shahabuddin Ahmed-led caretaker government, assuming the role on January 7, 1991.
