Senior Awami League leader and former health minister Mohammed Nasim suffered a stroke and had surgery.
Nasim, who has been undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Shyamoli, Dhaka, suffered from a haemorrhage following a stroke early Friday morning. He had to be taken into surgery immediately, his son Tanvir Shakil told Dhaka Tribune.
The surgery was successful, and Nasim will be under observation for two days in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has spoken with both Nasim’s son and doctors for an update on his condition, Tanvir said.
He asked for everyone to pray for his father’s recovery.
Nasim, a presidium member of the ruling party, was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital on June 1, after he tested positive for Covid-19.
