Bangladeshi entrepreneur featured in Time

Mostafiz’s initiatives have helped reshape the impression of Bangladesh’s RMG industry on the world stage

The Time magazine has featured Bangladeshi entrepreneur Mostafiz Uddin in a recent issue.

Highlighting the achievements of Mostafiz in developing Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) sector, the article said: “While the cost-competitiveness of Bangladesh’s labour force has been a major factor, there is more to the industry than that--something entrepreneur Mostafiz Uddin is passionate about communicating to the global audience.”

The article sheded light on Mostafiz’s past struggles, stating he went to India for studies after losing his father at a young age. 

“Some kids today do not think they can become businessmen because their families are not rich. I want them to look at me and believe that anything is possible if you work hard and have determination,” the Time magazine article quoted Mostafiz as saying.

Mostafiz is currently the managing director of Denim Expert Ltd., and founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo.

Mostafiz’s contributions in RMG sector

The Time magazine article stated that Mostafiz’s initiatives over the past six years have helped reshape the impression of Bangladesh’s RMG industry on the world stage. 

“In 2017, Bangladesh overtook China as the largest denim producer for the European market,” the article stated, adding that it was possible because of $1 billion global investment solely in Bangladesh’s 30 denim factories.

Mostafiz has brought world recognition to Bangladesh’s apparel industry by raising his voice before the international audience.

“At any major international conference on the apparel chain, you are likely to encounter him speaking clearly and forcefully about the changes that have been made by the Bangladesh apparel industry,” said the article.
