First budget session of 13th Parliament begins Sunday

The first session of the 13th Parliament concluded on April 30 after 25 working days, during which 94 bills were passed

The first budget session of the 13th Parliament is set to begin on Sunday, with lawmakers preparing to take up key fiscal business ahead of the national budget for fiscal year 2026–27.

The session, the second of the current parliament, will begin at 3pm at the Parliament Building.

It comes after the BNP-led government assumed office following the national election held on February 12, 2026.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is expected to place the proposed national budget for FY2026–27 on June 11 (Thursday).

Earlier on May 7, President Mohammed Shahabuddin summoned the parliamentary session.
