Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday said the government has decided to recruit 500,000 government employees.
He made the remarks during the question-and-answer session on the 14th day of the first session of the 13th National Parliament.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, presided over the morning sitting.
In response to a question from Pabna-2 lawmaker Md Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas, the prime minister said recruitment of 2,879 people is under way against vacant posts in the Public Administration Ministry and its subordinate departments and agencies.
Replying to the same lawmaker, he said all ministries and divisions have prepared work plans in line with the 180-day programme for implementing activities announced in the government’s election manifesto.
He added that significant progress has been made in implementing those plans.
