BNP MP Harun walks out from parliament in protest

The deputy speaker said names of convicted criminals cannot be mentioned in the parliament

BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid has staged a walkout from the ongoing budget session of the parliament, protesting the Speakers’ veto on mentioning names of Khaleda Zia and Tareque Rahman in the house.

The budget session for the fiscal year 2020-21 resumed at the parliament at 11am on Tuesday following a 7-day break, with Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.

Addressing the session, the Chapainawabganj-3 parliamentarian highlighted the dire state of the country’s healthcare system and demanded resignation of the health minister and director general of the health services division.

However, Harun was interrupted by the deputy speaker when he demanded a national unity over the coronavirus situation with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Tareque Rahman.

The deputy speaker said names of convicted criminals cannot be mentioned in the parliament. 

Enraged by the veto, BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid staged a walkout from the parliament.
