The budget session of the National Parliament for the 2020-2021 fiscal year began on Wednesday afternoon maintaining the health guidelines and social distancing in view of the Covid-19 situation.
The day’s proceedings began with the recitation from the Holy Quran at 5pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, reports BSS.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal would place the national budget for 2020-2021 fiscal year in the parliament at 3pm on Thursday.
The size of the proposed budget could be approximately over Tk5,60,000 crore.
The budget session is set to continue for 12 days, parliament sources said.
It is the eighth session of the 11th parliament and the second budget session of the Awami League government that assumed office after a landslide victory in the December 30 national election in 2018.
